Haven Behavioral Hospital of Albuquerque and Institute for Compassionate Community Provide Ethics Continuing Education

Haven Behavioral Hospital of Albuquerque and Institute for Compassionate Community have partnered to provide continuing education units (CEUs) on ethics-related topics to social workers.

The Ethics of Medical Cannabis and Intermediate Ethics will be held on Friday, September 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Ethics of Medical Cannabis will look at the various types of medical cannabis and how they are used to treat various symptoms.  Intermediate Ethics will look at some of the following issues as they relate to therapeutic relationships through a Feminist theoretical lens: Feminist/Multicultural Theory operates on the premise of egalitarianism and views clients as their own best experts from a perspective of positive coping rather than pathology. The cost of this session is $60, and six CEUs will be given at completion of the session.

On Friday, September 15 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., Ethics in Supervision will be an interactive experience dependent upon each participant’s openness, knowledge, questions and active engagement. Supervision is a critical aspect of development of sound therapists and clinicians. Developing self-awareness as a supervisor is an important aspect of providing ethical supervision. The cost of this session is $60, and six CEUs will be given at completion of the session.

All of the sessions will be held at Haven Behavioral Hospital of Albuquerque, Gibson Medical Center Auditorium, 5400 Gibson Blvd., SE, Albuquerque, NM  87108, on the east side of the building.  For more information or to RSVP, please contact Lea Harrison at [email protected] or 505-254-4504.
