Haven Announces Intensive Outpatient Program Open House and Staff Additions

Haven Behavioral Hospital of Albuquerque is pleased to announce the expansion of services to include the intensive outpatient population.  Haven’s Mariposa Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) caters to adults of all ages who are in need of more rigorous treatment than weekly therapy, but who do not require inpatient services.

“Haven has become a proven leader in behavioral healthcare services in New Mexico,” states Jennifer Barut, interim Chief Executive Officer at Haven Behavioral Hospital of Albuquerque.  “The addition of the Mariposa Program provides this much needed service for those who need more than outpatient therapy, but do not require the level of care available in inpatient hospitalization.”

Scott Bernhardt, MSW, MBA, LCSW, LADAC, was recently named Director of the Mariposa IOP.  Bernhardt was most recently a therapist with Sage Neuroscience Center.  Past experience also includes work as a therapist and Social Worker at UNM Children’s Psych Center and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Criminology from the University of New Mexico and Master’s in Social Work and Business Administration from New Mexico Highlands University.

Sherah Icenogle has been with Haven since 2016 as a Community Liaison and is taking on the role of IOP Coordinator.  Icenogle has worked in the addiction and mental health field since 2004. She started her career in Los Angeles where she resided for 12 years. She spent years working personally with clients in treatment center settings and independently before moving into the admissions and outreach field.  Prior to Haven, Icenogle was at Turning Point Recovery Center IOP and Detox where she did admissions and marketing.

Haven’s Mariposa IOP addresses behavioral health issues, substance use concerns or a combination of both.  The IOP works around an individual’s existing schedule.  Patients can continue to work or go to school while receiving treatment.  IOP provides intensive treatment that allows access to physicians, counselors and other medical specialists, group and individual counseling and educational services.  IOP typically lasts three hours per day three times per week and allows the client to return to their homes, jobs and lives.

To celebrate the opening of Haven’s Mariposa IOP, an Open House will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2018, at 4 p.m., 5400 Gibson Boulevard, SE, 3rd floor on the East Side of the Building.  Take the B elevator to the unit.  Hors d’oeuvres will be served.  The public is invited, so please RSVP by August 6 to Lea Harrison at [email protected].
